The Runaway and other School Stories came back from the proofreader this week. Her response was:
Loved these stories! I wish I was at one of these schools.
I’m doing one last pass for any last-minute editing (I can’t help tweaking!), but it’s essentially ready for publication in a month. I’ve added the ebook to Amazon for pre-order. I decided at the last minute to do a hardback edition as well, so as soon as I’ve finished this last pass, I’ll resend the paperback edition to the printer, and prepare the hardback edition as well. It’ll be slightly larger than the paperback, but otherwise nothing else will change, other than having blue cloth boards and a dustwrapper.
I’ve managed to work out how to create options on the website, so if you go to order Runaway, you’ll now get to choose which format you would like. If you’ve already ordered the paperback but would rather have the hardback, let me know. There aren’t very many of you, so it won’t be a problem to change your order.
The paperback edition is already starting to filter through on Amazon, though as yet they’re not listing it as available to pre-order. If you want to order it through them, you might want to message them if it doesn’t change status in the next week. (This is because I’m not using Amazon’s print service!) The hardback edition will be longer, obviously, since I haven’t uploaded it to the printer yet, so if you want it in hardback, I suggest ordering direct from here or waiting until Amazon (and other retailers) list it.
Iโve also added to the website Ethel Talbotโsย The Bravest Girl in the School. The updated version has been uploaded to Amazon as well, so do update your Kindle if you already own it. I’ve also noticed on Amazon that there is another publisher listing this book under the name of Ethel Talbot (and it’s linked to her other books), but the description has absolutely nothing to do with the Ethel Talbot story at all, so don’t be fooled into buying it expecting it to be the genuine article. I’ve reported it to Amazon, but who knows if they’ll actually do anything about it.
I do have another new book almost ready to publish – it’s just waiting on me to write a blurb, since it didn’t come with one. Finalising Runaway is my first priority, though, but I’ll try to do the blurb for the new book over the weekend and upload the book early next week.
